Dr. Jeff Brooks-Harris
Jeff Harris received his bachelor's degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He decided to major in psychology after considering both religion and education. His master's degree was awarded by Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Jeff received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ohio State University in 1990. In 2004, he was awarded board certification as a Specialist in Counseling Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

“I honed my skills and wrote down everything I know about psychotherapy...”

Jeff spent 18 years practicing psychotherapy full-time at university counseling centers in Illinois (1990-1994) and Hawaii (1994-2008). During this time, he supervised and trained graduate students and taught academic classes. Based on his clinical and training experience, he developed a new approach to integration that was published in 2008 as Integrative Multitheoretical Psychotherapy.

In Fall 2008, Jeff started a new job as an Associate Professor at Texas Woman’s University. He is teaching both graduate and undergraduate classes related to counseling and psychotherapy. He has initiated a program of research applying MTP to depression and using case studies and clinical trials to test its feasibility and effectiveness. Jeff lives in Denton, Texas with his partner, Pam, and his daughter, Genevieve. He enjoys bicycling, camping, skiing, sailing, and traveling with his family.
